Rafael Lovato Jr Wins FloGrappling Masters Black Belt of The Year Award 2016

Needless to say, Rafael Lovato Jr had an incredible year in 2016. From Super Fight submission grappling, to stepping into the cage again for MMA, to putting the gi on once more and competing at the IBJJF Master World Championships, Lovato Jr was on a complete tear. Going undefeated in all platforms & rulesets definitely made for a solid year. Our friends at FloGrappling held their first ever FloGrappling "of The Year" Awards for various categories. Of those, Rafael Lovato Jr was mentioned as a candidate with many incredible legends of the sport for the Masters Black Belt of The Year. His performance at the IBJJF Master Worlds was phenomenal from beginning to end, starting with avenging his Samurai brother in Xande Ribeiro in the Finals of the Black Belt Super Heavy division to secure the Gold Medal & ending with a Gold Medal in the Absolute division by way of closing out with Professor Xande. For his performance, the jiu jitsu community has spoken, & we would like to announce that Rafael Lovato Jr is FloGrappling's Masters Black Belt of The Year for 2016! Such an incredible acknowledgement from the entire jiu jitsu community for all of his hard work.

 Congratulations Rafael Lovato Jr!
