Rafael Lovato Jr. once again showed that he is among the best Black Belts in the World, by earning the Bronze medal in the Black Belt Super-Heavyweight division at the 2013 World Championships! This is not the medal he wanted, but it was his 7th World Black Belt medal in a row since 2007, an amazing feat of consistency! There were only two other non-Brazilians to reach the male adult Black Belt podium (Abraham Marte & Alexander Trans) and Lovato is still the only American with multiple World Black Belt medals.

Lovato submitted his first opponent and defeated Antonio Peinado by points to reach the semifinal. In the semifinal Lovato lost to tough newcomer Joao Gabriel by points. Rafael was coming on much stronger towards the end of the match after falling behind on points early, but unfortunately time ran out before he could make a comeback. However, this weekend Lovato will have twice the amount of time to try to submit his opponent , as he will be stepping back on the Metamoris mats to face Andre Galvao! Lovato is very excited to have another opportunity to compete right away and show his Jiu-Jitsu and it doesn't get any bigger or better than the Metamoirs stage! Get ready for an exciting match and a very entertaining card, you're not going to want to miss it! You can watch it live on the Metamoris stream.
