I've created this blog to help my fans and supporters stay connected to my training and preparation, as I compete around the world in the major BJJ and Submission Wrestling events. I will also share my thoughts and insights on certain topics regarding everything involved with BJJ.

Thanks alot Rafael. I learned this sweep from your teachers book Jiu Jitsu University. Now I have not 1 or 2....not 3...but 4 variations/combos off of the "flower sweep"! Please keep this blog alive!
Daniel Morias showed me that sweep. Hey Lovato, I repped your gi at Luis' tournament in Maui and got 2nd place.
Glad you guys like it. Congrats on your 2nd place finish, Arashl, and thanks for sporting my gi.
Oh and by the way, I showed my instructor (Aaron Moeller) your previous technique (open guard triangle) and he really liked it.
Don't forget to follow my blog!
Hey Rafael! I am a longtime fan of yours from Los Angeles. I was wondering if there is a No Gi version of this sweep.
You can definitely go for this sweep no-gi. Actually, Minotauro used this sweep on Randy. It is harder to get, but you can still look for some combinations off of it. Just control the wrist and kick with your leg. Timing will be very important and they will have to be a little off balance. Not having the pant leg grip makes it a little harder.
Hi Lovato, thank you for your input. I really like this technique and especially this set up. Also, enjoy fighting at ADCC!
Could you make a video on what you would do on bottom if your opponent is working a knee through pass?
Thanks. I will keep your suggestion in mind when I make my next technique video.
